Today we are working on another 1980's pile. This one is a 1987 Toyota Corolla FX with a 1.6L 4 banger...WOOOHOOO! This car has been sitting since 1999 for an unknown reason. Today Dad and I will try and bring it back to life once again.

Old cars are something we are not getting more of so it saddens me to see any go to waste. Scrapping classic cars might get you $150 a ton, but could make lifetime memories for someone instead. I didn’t even know this truck existed. A 1984 Mazda b2200 powered by a 2.2L Perkins Diesel. This truck began its life in California and later came to Missouri where it was used on the farm until 1998. Now 26 years later, the truck hasn’t been ran or drove - abandoned and left to rot away. Man the rat’s here in Missouri are like the size of two guinea pigs. And I know because I have a old 97’ Grand am that belong to my aunt and is just a habitat for those critters.

Everything in this junk yard is FREE! Come and get anything you want and as much of it you can take. After a year its all going to the scrap yard. LOL, That"s the way it should be at this point. Just to clean up the place and end the business . Plus, to give back to 'Americans' parts they need to keep old vehicles working.
Texas made them cleaned up since they are environmental hazard

Those models almost had a cult following in South Africa, they were extremely reliable and long lasting engines but the rust got the bodywork.
That’s awesome. Well except the rust. Mine is pretty bad in the floorboards. Somehow the interior is in very good shape though. I’m excited to see how it all cleans up.
I've had the exact same issues with the same motor as that. The vacuum system is a painful thing to get right and the master cylinder on mine was also toast. Great Jo getting it started 👍
Currently it runs decent with basically all the vacuum lines plugged off lol

I was never much of a small-car guy, but I've come to miss the days when you could still find small stick-shift cars like this that had a bit of character.

Looks like a 4A-LC engine. Last of the 8 valve engines before they went to the 16 valve 4AF in 88.

I had a 1991 COOLrolla 4 dr EFI as my first car. Got it after it had been sitting for a good while. Slaps some new oil in er new intake and topped off coolant drove the dog sheit out of it until i drove her into the back of an astrovan. Miss that ole light blue chick magnet...

@RealSteelFabrications yeah that's debatable I was 16. Young dumb and full of. Well. You know. 🤣 but I still loved that car because it was my first way to freedom. I must've put 2k miles on it the first month I got my drivers license

For $300 dollars this is a good buy. It actually probably ran just fine when it was parked. Its relatively rust free.
@@user-h2d5q the floors are gone on it, but doesn’t look to bad from the outside. Nothing sticks out on why it was parked. By my understanding the gentleman passed away and was left to his wife and has just been sitting since 1999.
I am be able to deal with Corolla at any age as long as it still in decent body shape. The engine of Toyota is very simple to rebuild and plenty of parts available at reasonable price. I have owned more than 5 corolla that I brought used condition and older than 23 years old.
@@johnmadow5331 this one is a pretty rusty. Floors are gone on it. Toyota makes some great vehicles though, can’t argue that!
